Town Hall Meeting: Drilling

On July 21st we held our first informative session on Marcellus Shale drilling with the DEP.  The DEP was helpful in demystifying a lot of questions and provided thorough and thoughtful answers to questions that were submitted prior and during the meeting.  To read the questions and answers we reviewed please visit the "Blackridge Civic Association Drilling Questions."
 
In order to address this issue with the attention it requires, we solicited volunteers a July 21st meeting to spearhead the drilling group.  The mission of the drilling group is to provide is to facilitate information gathering, to understand the potential for collective bargaining and to work with local municipalities on issues concerning the topic of drilling. Other key outcomes / action items of the meeting include:

• Contact Chesapeake oil directly to request an information session
• Review legalities with an attorney specializing in oil drilling
• Contact with the Penn State University that  specializes in these types of leases

While we understand there has been continued solicitation by Dale Properties to sign contracts, we have had no further information regarding any permitting, etc.  The BCA will continue to support and facilitate information gathering regarding the topic.
