BCA Playgroup - March Update

The Blackridge Playgroup coordinates activities for the children of the Blackridge Community, their friends and neighboring communities.  This group hosts a number of different activities for children up to the age of 8 on both the weekday and weekends.  The purpose of the group is to allow our children an opportunity to make neighborhood friendships as many of the
children within the community attend different public or private schools, or are home schooled.

The group is open to all parents and friends of Blackridge, and is for both working and at-home parents.  Its activities are managed though parent volunteers.  We encourage all our members to support the Blackridge Civic Association (BCA), the Blackridge Swim Club (BSC), and/or the Blackridge Garden Club (BGC).

The BCA Playgroup is also a great way for parents to get to know one another.  Its great to go to a BCA event or the BSC pool and know that you and your children will know someone there.

We are always looking for new ideas, activities and events for our children. Please feel free to contact the playgroup Coordinator, Charlotte Kalafut, to join the playgroup, help out with an event, or share a skill or talent that would benefit the children of Blackridge.

Saturday, April 3rd – 10:15 a.m.
The Bunny Parade Get Together – Spring into Easter with a visit from the Easter Bunny.  Let’s get together and wait for the Easter Bunny at Hollywood and Jamestown at 10:15.  Things are always so more exciting for the kids when there is a large group gathered.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Every Thursday, Starting April 15 – 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Speed Stroller Walking Group – We’ll be meeting at the Monroeville Municipality Community Park N for a 3.5 mile walk followed by a short play date on the playground for the kids.  Park in the most Northern lot by the theater.  Post on Facebook if your planning on going.  We start by 9:55 a.m.

Saturday, May 1 – 1:00 p.m.  Save the Date
2nd Annual BCA Princess Tea Party – Put on your best princess gown, grab a fancy teacup, and join us for afternoon tea.  Rain date is scheduled for Saturday, May 15th at 1:00 p.m.

Marcy Birchard & Elaine McBride have volunteered to help organize this year’s event.  We are asking that every princess RSVP for this event.  So check your calendars, hold the date and keep an eye out for the formal invitation.

Saturday & Sunday, May 29th & 30th – 5-6pm, Practice 6-7pm
Blackridge Swim Team Meet & Greet – Children ages 5-18 considering joining the BSC Swim team and come meet the coaches, find out what’s involved and get a practice in for the kids.  More information for the 2010 season and contact information can be found on the BSC website.

Modified Evening Practice June 1 - 4 and regular morning/evening practice beginning June 7th (exact times to be communicated).

The Barracudas hold both morning and evening practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to accommodate different schedules. Coaches ask that swimmers try to attend practice three times a week.

Saturdays starting in June – 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Preschool Soccer - Sign up has started.  The YMCA Soccer Coach will host 5 weeks of soccer camp for the BCA Playgroup.  Cost is $10 per child for the 5-week session.  The number of children will be limited so email rapkin.Kalafut@verizon.net to register now.
